The Sanctuary
There are many ethical decisions that human beings make with respect to the environment. Valerie valued organic, ethical and sustainable practices and incorporated her beliefs in maintaining her land and building her home. You will see the beauty of her creation and sense the impact that intentional living has on our collective health, when you enter The Living Sanctuary. The primary wood supports of the house are from a century-old reclaimed barn. The floors are reclaimed chestnut wood, or tile. The walls are constructed of foot thick Durisol block – made from 80% recycled wood. No drywall material was used and all walls are covered with American Clay plaster and have a beautiful soft palette of natural colors.High efficiency geothermal heating and cooling is used, as well as radiant floor heat.
